Botox therapy (botulinum toxin) is a modern and effective method for treating certain chronic pain conditions.
Botulinum toxin is injected in a targeted way into overactive or tense muscles in order to reduce their activity temporarily.
Botulinum toxin inhibits signal transmission between nerves and muscles. This relaxes the treated muscles, which can significantly reduce pain. In addition, Botox also influences the release of pain-mediating messenger substances, which further reduces the sensation of pain.
The therapy has proven itself particularly in chronic muscle tension, tension headaches, migraine and certain forms of neck pain and back pain.
The effect usually begins after a few days and lasts for several weeks to months. The treatment is well tolerated and can be repeated at regular intervals if necessary.
The aim of the treatment is to relax overactive muscle structures, regulate pain processes and improve mobility in the long term – while at the same time reducing the need for medication.
